Multiplication Properties Review

Well today was a LONG day, but we got a lot done despite quite a few interruptions!  In math today we reviewed all the multiplication properties.  We did this by making a cute foldable  I got the idea from one of my amazing team members! (It's a FREEBIE at my TPT Store Right Now!)

First we made the anchor chart below together.
Then I modeled how to make the book and showed them my example then it was their turn I think they turned out great!

We finished the day by playing Multiplication Property Scoot check it out at my TPT Store! They love scoot so much!

Verbs!

I just finished my Verb Puzzle Piece Pack. It includes a puzzle matching activity for past, present and future verb tenses, it also has a quick assessment for each!

Check out how my kids did on the activity, I think it turned out great!

Pilgrim Pack

Just finished this Pilgrim Pack today!  This is a good way to still be festive, but students who don't celebrate Thanksgiving can still participate in these activities.

I created a poem that goes along with critical thinking questions and a cause and effect chart.

Also includes a fun math activity for multiplication fact families!

Turkey Time!

With Thanksgiving approaching we are trying to make next week a little more festive!  We are focusing a lot on suffixes so I thought of this SUPER cute FREEBIE!  There are 5 different suffix birds and a blank one for you to come up with your own!

More with Multiplication Property

Last night as I was trying to wind down and get ready for bed, I started to think about how I could review commutative, associative and distributive property and it hit me SCOOT! I could hardly wait to wake up and make a Multiplication Property Scoot Game you can get it at my TPT Store

My students LOVE Scoot so I think this is the perfect option!

Distributive Property

WoW, when I first started thinking about teaching distributive property to 3rd graders, I just could NOT wrap my head around the best approach.  My team and I searched and searched and found some resources, but nothing that taught me how to teach third graders this concept. PLUS my school is project based, so I needed some type of craft activity to go along with this.

I found myself thinking what can I make to show distributive property basically chopping arrays in half...BAM it hit me The Distributive Destroyer Ninja! He karate chops arrays into smaller ones!  I am really excited to do this with the kiddos! Check it out at
 My TPT Store!

This is the craft we make on Day 3 of the plans!

Area and Equal Groups!

I wanted to share some fun things my 3rd grade team did to kick off multiplication this year, and a fun area activity!

We did a lot with multiplication and still are, but probably one of my favorite activities we did went along with the book If you Give a Cat a Cupcake by Laura Numeroff.  My fabulous Team Mate found this great resource from Amy Lemons! Check out how it turned out below!

We also had to tackle Area the first quarter this year, I must say the kids really had fun and grasped the concept pretty quickly! I got the Graph for the dream house off of Teachers Pay Teachers from Blair Turner, but I made my own recording sheet for the kids.  I will upload that FREEBIE on Tuesday!

Associative Property

Wow I have been having a really hard time finding things for associative property!  I created a quick FREEBIE for associative property at my TPT Store! Make sure to check out the associative property ppt I made for an easy intro!

What have you been doing/using for associative property?

I made another Associative FREEBIE at my TPT store.  If you know of any other resources for properties of multiplication I would love some help!  Look for distributive property coming soon!

Math Centers

This year my math centers have been running so smoothly!  I have 3 stations: A task card station, a review station and the teacher station.  My students absolutely love the task card station and it is a perfect daily review of skills they have practiced! I will write more about my stations later, but I made some more task cards that are now available at my TPT store. Check them out HERE

This months task cards focus on word problems because my kids can really use the extra exposure! I wrote addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and multi step problems!
